Kurangnya menaati peraturan lalu lintas dan tak kuasai kemudi, sopir pick up tabrak pohon ditepi jalan. Peristiwa kecelakaan tunggal ini, terjadi di Jalan Raya Sumberboto, Desa Japanan, Kecamatan Mojowarno, Kabupaten Jombang, Jawa Timur, pada Senin (18/09/2017), sekitar pukul 04.00 WIB. Dalam kecelakaan tunggal ini, memakan satu korban meninggal dunia di tempat kejadian.
Kejadian bermula saat pengemudi pick up dengan nopol AG 7998 VC, dari arah selatan menuju arah utara. Dengan laju kendaraan yang dikemudikan, akhirnya sopir tak kuasai kemudi dan menabrak pohon yang berada ditepi jalan sebelah barat. Sedangkan, kendaraan ditumpangi 3 orang, yakni 1 sopir dan 2 penumpang. Dalam kecelakaan tunggal itu, mengakibatkan 1 penumpang tewas sedangkan sopir dan 1 penumpang mengalami luka. Korban meninggal bernama 'Rico Setiawan (26) warga Dusun Sumberejo, Desa Manggis, Kecamatan Ngancar, Kabupaten Kediri. Sedangkan 1 penumpang yang mengalami luka bernama 'Sugiyono (36) warga Dusun Kuwuh, Desa Balerejo, Kecamatan Balerejo, Kabupaten Madiun. Sedangkan sopir bernama 'Muhammad Suherli (37) warga Dusun Dares, Desa Pabean, Kecamatan Sedati, Kabupaten Sidoarjo.
"Korban meninggal dan luka sementara ini berada di RSK Mojowarno, untuk dilakukan evakuasi dan perawatan. Kecelakaan tersebut, akibat lajunya kendaraan dan sopir tak kuasai kemudi, sehingga menabrak pohon yang berada ditepi jalan sebelah jalan.
