Beijing – Ilmuwan China sungguh sangat luar biasa, mereka berhasil mengkloning monyet yang sama identik. Teknik kloning tersebut menjadi yang pertama kali di dunia dilakukan kepada hewan primata non-manusia.

Bedanya, kloning monyet ini dilakukan teknik penuh.
Kedua monyet itu dilahirkan beberapa pekan lalu di laboratorium peneliti China. Saat ini, Zhong Zhong dan Hua Hua sudah memasuki usia tujuh minggu dan dirawat di dalam sebuah inkubator layaknya bayi manusia yang baru lahir.
Untuk melakukan kloning ini, tim ilmuwan dari Institute of Neuroscience di Chinese Academy of Sciences mengikuti proses yang disebut transfer sel somatik (SCNT), di mana memindahkan inti sel dengan DNA ke dalam sel telur yang intinya sudah diambil.
Setidaknya peneliti harus melewati 79 kali percobaan kloning sebelum berhasil melakukannya. Selama proses tersebut, peneliti mengaku mengikuti pedoman riset hewan yang ditetapkan oleh Institut Kesehatan Amerika Serikat.
“Ini melalui proses yang sulit dan rumit,” kata Mu-ming Poo selaku Director of the Institute of Neuroscience di Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Dengan kesuksesan ini tak menutup kemungkinan bahwa kloning dengan cara serupa bisa dilakukan kepada manusia. Meski teknik kloning berhasil dilaksanakan, peneliti China tersebut belum ada niatan untuk mengkloning manusia.
“Saya pikir bahwa masyarakat umum dan pemerintah tidak akan membiarkan perluasan penerapan metode (kloning) ini dari primata non-manusia kepada manusia,” ujar Poo. (di ambil dari detik.com/live science)
